The auto dialer built for moving companies

Updated , by the MoverPhone team

The short answer

An auto dialer for moving companies dials your lead and prospect lists for your reps automatically. A power dialer calls one number after another without manual dialing. A parallel dialer calls several numbers at once and connects the rep only when a live person answers. Movers use auto dialers to call back web leads within minutes, follow up on unbooked estimates and work moving-prospect lists.

If you buy leads, run Google Ads or get quote requests from your website, the job is won or lost on the callback. The customer filled out three forms. The first mover to reach them, and keep reaching them until they pick up, books the estimate.

Manual dialing can’t keep up. Reps waste most of the hour on ringing, voicemail, busy signals and disconnected numbers. An auto dialer gives that time back.

How movers use an auto dialer

  • Speed-to-lead on web leads. New form fills and vendor leads go into a queue that rings within minutes, during business hours and the evening hours when movers are most reachable.
  • Follow-up cadences. Unreached leads are retried automatically on a schedule. Day 1: three attempts. Days 2-3: two a day. Then a voicemail drop and a text.
  • Unbooked estimates. Customers who got a quote but didn’t book get a second-chance call before they pick a competitor.
  • Past customers and referrals. Repeat movers, realtors and property managers get seasonal check-ins.
  • Prospect lists. Reps work fresh moving-prospect data for the states you serve: people who are about to move but haven’t requested a quote yet.

Power dialer vs parallel dialer vs predictive dialer

Dialer type How it dials Best for Watch out for
Power dialer One number at a time, automatically Hot web leads, unbooked estimates, past customers Fewer conversations per hour than parallel
Parallel dialer 2-4 numbers at once; connects the first live answer Large lists with low answer rates Needs good voicemail detection to avoid dead air
Predictive dialer Algorithm paces calls across a whole team Big call centers with 20+ agents Abandoned-call rules; overkill for most movers

MoverPhone includes both power and parallel dialing. Scale runs up to 2x parallel, and Pro up to 4x. Reps switch modes depending on the list. Hot leads go one at a time, so nobody hears a delay. Cold prospect lists run in parallel.

What to look for in a moving company dialer

  1. Native moving CRM integration. The dialer should pull leads from SmartMoving, Supermove, MoveBoard, Elromco or Movegistics, and write every call outcome back. Some CRMs now ship their own dialer. Supermove’s Auto Dialer, for example, runs inside Supermove. That’s convenient if you use only Supermove, but it limits you if you work leads from several sources.
  2. AI voicemail detection. Parallel dialing is only efficient if the system can tell a person from a machine and drop the machine instantly.
  3. Local presence and number rotation. People answer local numbers. Rotating numbers by area code and keeping them healthy (carrier registration and warm-up) protects your answer rate from spam labeling.
  4. Voicemail drop. One click leaves a prerecorded message in the rep’s own voice, so reps don’t record the same voicemail 60 times a day.
  5. Compliance fences. DNC scrubbing, calling-hour limits by the recipient’s time zone, and consent tracking built in rather than bolted on.
  6. Inbound in the same system. When a prospect calls back, the call should ring the rep or the AI receptionist, not a dead end.
  7. Data included. If you want to prospect, a dialer without data means buying and uploading CSVs from another vendor.

Compliance basics for calling moving leads

Calling consumers in the U.S. is governed mainly by the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and the Telemarketing Sales Rule. This is a summary, not legal advice:

  • Consent. Autodialed and prerecorded or artificial-voice calls to cell phones need prior express consent. Telemarketing calls of that kind need prior express written consent. A customer who submitted a quote form with clear consent language has usually given it.
  • AI voices count. In February 2024 the FCC ruled that AI-generated voices are “artificial” voices under the TCPA, so AI outbound calls follow the same consent rules as prerecorded calls.
  • Do Not Call. Scrub prospect lists against the National DNC Registry and your own internal DNC list.
  • Calling hours. Call only between 8am and 9pm in the recipient’s local time.
  • State rules. Several states, including Florida and Oklahoma, have their own “mini-TCPA” laws with stricter limits.

MoverPhone applies DNC scrubbing and time-zone calling fences automatically. Review your consent language with counsel before running outbound campaigns.

What it costs

Parallel dialing is included on Scale ($299 per user a month, up to 2x) and Pro ($499 per user a month, up to 4x). Both include local presence, voicemail drop and CRM sync. Starter ($99 per user a month) covers the AI receptionist and manual calling without parallel dialing. See full pricing.

A simple speed-to-lead playbook for movers

  1. Minute 0-5: the first call from a local number. If it goes to voicemail, hang up without leaving a message and send a text: “Hi Dana, it’s Mike from Acme Moving about your Oct 16 move. When’s a good time for a quick call?”
  2. Minute 30: a second call. Leave a voicemail drop this time.
  3. Hour 3: a third call.
  4. Day 2: two calls, one late morning and one early evening.
  5. Days 3-5: one call a day, plus a final text with a link to book a virtual estimate.
  6. After that: move the lead to a monthly nurture list until the move date passes.

The dialer runs this cadence automatically. Your reps just talk to the people who answer.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between a power dialer and a parallel dialer?

A power dialer calls one number at a time and moves to the next as soon as a call ends. A parallel dialer calls two to four numbers at once and connects the rep to the first live person. That's typically several times more conversations per hour, which suits large lists with low answer rates.

Is it legal for movers to use an auto dialer?

Auto dialers are legal, but calling consumers is regulated. Under the TCPA, autodialed or prerecorded and artificial-voice calls to cell phones need the consumer's prior express consent. Telemarketing calls need prior express written consent, must respect the National Do Not Call Registry, and must be made between 8am and 9pm in the recipient's time zone. Leads who asked you for a quote have usually given consent; purchased lists need DNC scrubbing. This isn't legal advice, so check with counsel.

How fast should a mover call back a web lead?

Within five minutes if you can. Research on lead response (HBR, 2011) found that contacting a lead within an hour made it nearly seven times as likely to qualify than waiting longer. Shared moving leads are often decided within the first few calls.

Does MoverPhone leave voicemails for my reps?

Yes. Voicemail drop leaves a prerecorded message in the rep's own voice with one click, and AI voicemail detection skips answering machines automatically on parallel calls.

Which CRMs does the dialer work with?

SmartMoving, Supermove, MoveBoard, Elromco, Movegistics and HubSpot. Calls, outcomes, recordings and AI summaries are logged against the lead.
